After my tour in Novi Sad, I asked my tour guide where I can try Serbian traditional food. He dropped me at “?” Question Mark, known as the oldest and first “kafana” or tavern in Serbia. It is located at 6 Kralja Petra Street, Belgrade, Serbia and its building stands for almost 200 years old. They have indoor and outdoor sitting and it is situated near St. Michael’s Church. Why the kafana name as “?” In 1892 the new owner Ivan Pavlović changed the name from “Kod pastira” which means “Shepherd's” in English to “Kod Saborne crkve” or “At the Cathedral Church" in English. The Serbian Orthodox Church protested due to changed name of the kafana and to action this issue temporarily, Ivan put “?” question mark on the door and became the official name of the tavern up to present. In 1981 "?" was added to the Protected Monuments of Culture list by the Republic of Serbia.
