Wine is made from fermented grapes and comes with different variety like red wine, white wine, fruit wine, etc. Wine is always quoted that it is good for the heart, but moderate consumption must be observed.
Countries like United States, Canada, Australia, France, Italy, Argentina, Spain and South Africa has become wine tourist destination. Most their wineries offer scenic vineyard views, wine tasting and tour of the vineyards and cellar.
While touring in Cape Town I had a chance to visit on one of their famous wineries. Zevenwacht Wine Estate is located in Stellenbosch Wine Route, Cape Town, South Africa. It is around 25 minutes away from the city center and Cape Town International Airport. The name Zevenwacht derived from Dutch literally means Seven Expectations. Zevenwacht is not only leader in wine tourism, but also the first wine estates to offer hotel accommodation, restaurant and conference facility.
The modern wine farm with a 300-year history offers wine tasting and cellar tour inside their winery.
We tried the following tasting options:
Cheese and Wine Tasting
Rand 40.00 for cheese platter (Tasting of 4 cheeses including 2 biscuits)
Rand 29.00 per person for 4 pre-selected wines to pair with cheeses
Cellar Tours
Complimentary (Duration of 15 to 20 minutes)
Presented at 10h00; 11h00; 15h00 and 16h00 daily
For wine lovers out there, don’t forget to stop by at Zevenwacht Wine Estate if you are on tour in Cape Town, South Africa.
