Early morning, we boarded Taj Express Train from New Delhi to Agra for around 3 hours. Agra is a city in the state of Uttar Pradesh and beautifully situated on the banks of river Yamuna. From 1526 to 1628 it achieved prominence as the capital of the Mughal Emperors. Today it remains major tourist destination because of its many splendid Mughal-era monuments most notably the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort & Fatehpur Sikri, all the three tourist spots are listed in UNESCO World Heritage site. Our tour guide Arora meet us and proceeded for the local sightseeing of Agra. First stop is Fatehpur Sikri (Ghost Capital), the political capital of India's Mughal Empire. It is under Akbar's reign from 1571 until 1585. Later it was abandoned, ostensibly due to lack of water. Second stop is Taj Mahal, it is open daily except Friday. The entrance fee for Indian citizens is 50 INR and for foreign tourists it is 1,100 INR. Taj Mahal which means Crown of the Palaces and symbolizes eternal love.
