My Travel Diary Webseries Part 10: Oahu Island North Shore Tour, Hawaii, USA (last episode)

On the last episode of our webseries, let’s experience the countryside of the North Shore of Oahu Island. North Shore is one hour drive away from the busy life of Waikiki. The North shore is famous for beaches, big waves and surfing contests.

Dole Plantation is one of the most popular attraction in the Island of Oahu, Hawaii. Dole Plantation is located at 64-1550 Kamehameha Highway, Wahiawa, Hawaii. Open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m and online booking is available on their website https://www.doleplantation.com/tour-packages/

Dole offers world’s largest maze, plantation garden tour and pineapple express train tour. Inside the plantation you can buy fresh pineapples and souvenirs.

Haleiwa Town is located on North Shore of Oahu Island, Hawaii about one-hour drive from Waikiki. Haleiwa and the North Shore of Oahu are known as the surfing capital of the world. The Hawaiian word “hale” means house, and “ʻiwa” means a frigate bird.

Waimea Bay is an exhibition playground for big-wave riders and a great destination for swimming, snorkeling and diving. The Hawaiian word Waimea means “reddish water”.

Lāʻie Point State Wayside offers scenic views of the Pacific Ocean lapping against the rocky coast. Park activities includes Cliff Jumping for adventurous people, fishing and sightseeing.

Kualoa Regional Park is located at Kāneʻohe Bay. The Hawaiian word kualoa means “long ancestral background”. Some of the famous films such as Jurassic World, Jurassic Park, 50 First Dates, and TV series like Lost and Hawai‘i Five-O were shot in Kualoa.

Mokoli’i Island can be seen from the shore and the island looks a bit like a coolie’s hat, the nickname is “Chinaman’s Hat.”

Valley of the Temples Memorial Park is located on the Windward side of Oahu. It is memorial park that welcome families of all faiths including Christianity and Buddhism.

Byodo-In Temple is a Buddhist Temple located inside the memorial park and it was dedicated to the first Japanese immigrants in Hawaii. The temple also housed the remains of former President Ferdinand Marcos at a private mausoleum until it was shifted back to the Philippines.

Nu’uanu Pali Lookout is located at Nuʻuanu Valley on the island of Oʻahu, a 5 miles drive from Honolulu. The Nuuanu Pali Lookout offers panoramic views of the sheer Koolau cliffs and lush Windward Coast.

On my last day in Hawaii, I went for a swim at the famous Waikiki Beach. Before heading to Honolulu International Airport, I bought some souvenirs and grabbed Starbucks coffee at Waikiki Trade Center.

This concludes my adventure in Aloha State of Hawaii and the end of “My Travel Diary Webseries in Oceania Continent”.
